Kremer Eye Center Restores Eyesight to Cataract Sufferers in Belize City

Dr. George Pronesti and a team of experienced medical professionals, including Brydie Calkin, RN, Don Sivick, M.D., Carol Szweda and Carol Hughes, traveled to Belize City on June 18th-25th. Working with The Belize Council for the Visually Impaired (BCVI), the team’s volunteer mission helped restore vision to impoverished locals. At Kremer Eye Center, our surgeons work to restore optimal eyesight to all patients. Many people are unable to afford surgeries which would improve their eyesight. The team provided medical supplies and cataract surgery for the visually impaired.

The Belize Council for the Visually Impaired (BCVI) is a non-profit organization that aims to improve the quality of life for individuals with visual impairments and reduce the prevalence of blindness through appropriate eye care. Over the past 20 years, BCVI has developed truly comprehensive eye services, supporting the needs of the blind and visually impaired and actively working to prevent eye problems that can lead to blindness. It is the mission of BCVI to prevent and cure blindness, restore sight, and to rehabilitate and educate people who are blind. To learn more about BCVI, please visit http://www.bcvi.org/.
