Visian ICL

Many of our nearsighted patients are correcting their vision with a phakic lens implant called the Visian ICL (implantable collamer lens).

The Visian ICL originated as a solution for people with high lens prescriptions (high myopia) and for those who lack sufficient corneal thickness to have LASIK, however, its precision and consistently good results have made it an excellent alternative to LASIK for almost everyone.

During the Visian ICL procedure, a special synthetic lens is implanted in the eye just behind the pupil, redirecting light rays so that they focus correctly on the retina. The Visian lens does not replace the eye’s natural lens.

Kremer surgeons have over ten years of extensive experience with this type of procedure, having implanted a similar lens under an FDA protocol with great success. Our surgeons continue to be at the forefront of this leading-edge technology, and we are proud to be one of six national surgeon-training sites for the Visian ICL procedure.
