WAVEfront Custom LASIK takes LASIK to the next level of visual success and safety by enabling your surgeon to further customize your LASIK treatment for your individual eyes.
WAVEfront technology creates a 3D map of your eye that encompasses the entire optical system and allows our surgeons to treat minute irregularities in the eye that traditional LASIK cannot. This greatly reduces the chance of glare or halos and offers patients a chance to see 20/20 or better. FDA studies show that WAVEfront Custom LASIK may produce better vision than is possible with contact lenses or glasses.
The main component of the WAVEfront system is a device called an "aberrometer" that beams light through the eye and takes thousands of detailed measurements as it bounces back out and detects imperfections in the visual system. As the waves exit the eye, a computer compares them to an ideal “WAVEfront,” which equals “perfect” vision. The difference is calculated and a personalized 3D map of the exact pattern needed for vision correction is programmed. This is used to guide the laser when it reshapes the eye.
