Employee Spotlight: Meet Dr. Ketki Soin

August 30, 2018

Dr. SohnThe team at Kremer Eye Center consists of experienced professionals dedicated to providing the best eye care to patients all over the Greater Philadelphia area. One of the newest members of the Kremer family is Ketki Soin, M.D.

Dr. Soin joined the Kremer team in July 2018 and works in our Cherry Hill, Center City, and King of Prussia offices. As a board-certified ophthalmologist and fellowship-trained corneal surgeon, she specializes in cataract and corneal treatments.

Prior to joining the Kremer staff, Dr. Soin served as the Chief Resident at the Illinois Eye and Ear Infirmary at the University of Illinois Chicago. She also completed her Cornea and Refractive Surgery Fellowship at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary of Mount Sinai.

Check out our sit-down interview with Dr. Soin below to learn more about her and what she can do for her patients on their journey to clear, healthy vision.

Why did you decide to become a corneal and cataract specialist?

I wanted to specialize in cataract and corneal treatments because I enjoy the combination of forming relationships with patients and their families, while also performing surgeries that won’t just restore their eyesight, but also enhance their quality of life in a very tangible way.

What made you decide to join the team at Kremer Eye Center?

I joined the team because the doctors at Kremer are extremely skilled, compassionate and use the most advanced technologies. All of this makes for a truly special environment, which patients acknowledge and really appreciate.

What types of procedures do you perform at Kremer?

I perform different types of cataract surgeries including implantations of various specialized cataract lenses. I also perform corneal surgeries such as corneal transplants (both full and partial thickness), corneal cross-linking, and pterygium excision, as well as other smaller procedures.

How do you think the vision correction industry has advanced since you became a medical professional and where do you see it going in the future?

There have been significant advancements in the field of ophthalmology since I became a medical professional, particularly with minimally invasive glaucoma surgeries. Minimally invasive procedures seem to be a growing trend within both corneal and cataract surgeries, which can give patients even more options in the future.

Why would you recommend Kremer Eye Center for vision correction and eye care?

I would recommend Kremer Eye Center to patients for the same reason I decided to join the team—we have over 35 years of experience providing great results and patient satisfaction in a truly wonderful environment.

What advice/tips would you give those who are considering corneal or cataract treatments?

Advancements in techniques and technologies have made corneal and cataract treatments more effective and quicker than ever. However, patients should be well-informed and feel comfortable with their decision to have surgery, the timeline of the procedure and the recovery.

So, it’s best to talk to your doctor or schedule a consultation to learn more about your options and understand which is right for you.

What advice/tips would you give those who are looking for a career in this field?

Ophthalmology is an exciting and dynamic field that’s constantly growing and advancing. Always be prepared to keep up with new and emerging technologies and procedures in the industry.

What do you like to do when you’re not at the Kremer offices?

When I’m not at Kremer, I enjoy traveling, trying new restaurants, biking, and spending time with my family.

Also, I try to volunteer when I can. In the past, I’ve volunteered in New Orleans helping survivors of Hurricane Katrina. I’ve provided medical care to developing countries in the Caribbean and South Asia, too.

Dr. Soin and the entire Kremer Eye Center team are committed to providing patients with outstanding eye care services and patient care. If you’d like to learn more about the Kremer family, and the eye care and vision correction procedures we’re proud to offer, schedule a consultation today!
